I've used these glasses for a number of years as our family's everyday water glasses. I recently started looking for new water glasses for guests to use during holiday dinners. I wasn't able to match the value, sturdiness and simple clean design of these Luminarcs, so I bought more of the same. It's a French company that manufactures these glasses in the US, another plus.

When I finally got them after 2+ weeks, they are pretty nice and sturdy glasses. I only received 9 (out of 10), and they were individually bubble wrapped then thrown in a box, so 1 of the 9 was broken. So pretty terrible service, but the ones I got were fine. They etched beautifully.

I'd like to throw my hat in the ring here as a 5-star review. No, these glasses aren't perfect, but they definitely aren't the super cheap stuff you find at Target, though. I was looking for something large, with a heft to the glass that wouldn't shatter the moment something else in the sink knocked into them. I've had these for about a year now and I haven't broken a single one. Granted, with each box of 20, you'll find the odd scratch here or there, but for the price, hell, I'd buy 2 boxes and just weed out the bad ones if you really care that much. They still shine up nicely when I run them through the dishwasher, and although my wife wanted something that looked a little fancier, I am happier with these because they hold up and feel solid. They're basically your standard pub drinking glass. I'm giving five stars for the value for money, and the quality, IMO, more than matches the price. Very few imperfections and a solid weight to them.

I was looking for a sturdy, large glass tumbler which would stand up to everyday use. The tumbler had to be wide enough to get a hand in with a rag to clean (we have large hands) and not prone to chipping along the edge. It had to be resilient enough not to break or chip with normal use and washing (I have a teenager who helps with the dishes). The tumblers had to be dishwasher safe and nice enough to use for all occasions. These met all my criteria. An added plus is that they are also stackable and can be stored compactly by alternating upside-down to -up in the cabinet. They resist breakage and I haven't had one chip yet (3 years use), though rough handling has broken one or two. I would consider these "restaurant quality" and a smart investment for the money.

Thick, solid glass (no bubbles in the glass = decent quality). Perfect size for homemade ice coffee. I bought these specifically as a thick 16oz glass so I could make my ice coffee at home. Thin cups will shatter when adding hot coffee to a cold cup. I use them daily.

My recipe:
Fill glass to the brim with ice.
Use espresso in my keurig.
Set for "Shot" (can add a second if you order a really strong coffee flavor)
Top with cream, milk, creamers, whiskey, bailey's etc.
If you like sweeter make espresso in a separate mug and add sugar before adding to the glass of ice or use flavored and sweetened creams.
Alternately use tea, cappuccino or cocoa for a different cold drink.
