Debuting at CES 2016, the next dishwasher from LG promises to be its most advanced model yet. The upcoming LDT8786ST will be equipped with TrueSteam, which uses high-temperature steam to gently melt away tough stains, and MultiMotion, a robotic wash arm that can reportedly shoot water in every direction.

With the new proprietary MultiMotion, LG tackles territory Samsung’s WaterWall and KitchenAid’s Dynamic Wash Arm have already pioneered, revolutionizing the way wash arms work. It’s a sign that manufacturers are actively trying to overcome one of dishwashing’s biggest challenges: how to get water on every dish, regardless of its size, shape, or location in the tub.

MultiMotion also promises to cut down cycle time. The LDT8786ST can supposedly complete a cycle in 59 minutes, thanks to the new wash arm.

The LDT8786ST will have LG’s EasyRack Plus and Smart Diagnosis technology, along with the ability to download customized wash cycles from the LG website. And for those who love that minimalist look, the LDT8786ST’s micro LED display disappears completely when it’s unlit, similar to Samsung’s Star Display.

Other than MultiMotion, the LDT8786ST doesn’t have any completely new, never-before-seen dishwasher tech. However, it looks to combine all of the brand's best existing features into a comprehensive package. We’re looking forward to testing one in our labs later this year.
