No New Dishwashers From Bosch This Year? What Gives?

With its current line less than a year old, Bosch is making 2014 all about design choices.

Bosch introduced its Benchmark line of high-end kitchen appliances at Design and Construction week—a line that was conspicuously missing any new dishwashers. Rather, Bosch is sticking with what works, integrating our highest-rated Bosch dishwasher, the SHE8PT55UC, into the new Benchmark lineup. Though the name and branding has changed slightly, we expect the same strong performance that we saw when it debuted back in May 2013.

With its attractive LCD screen and interior lights, the SHE8PT55UC set a new bar for luxury kitchen appliances. Now that it has been officially revealed as part of the Benchmark lineup, this dishwasher is also getting another luxurious option: custom paneling. At Design and Construction Week, Bosch showed the SHE8PT55UC off with a wooden front that made it seamlessly blend in with its surrounding cabinetry.

The SHE8PT55UC isn't the only dishwasher getting a cosmetic upgrade—custom panels will also be available for the entire Ascenta lineup. The wide recessed handle design seen on the SHP65T56UC, which is part of Bosch's 500 series, will be introduced into the 800 series as well. Finally, some of the 500 Series will be available in black and white. The alternate colors will cost $50 less than their stainless steel counterparts.
